December 2006

We all went to visit Kissimmee for Christmas. Mike and Michael prepared for the Troop 109 trip to Sea Base next year by earning our NAUI Open Water SCUBA Certification at the Kissimmee Professional Dive Center

August 2006

Mike and Michael travelled with Troop 109 to Pictured Rock National Lakeshore in the Upper Pennisula during August 3 - 8. Click here to see the photo album from the trip.

We all went camping in Wheatley Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. We drove to Canada on August 30 and returned home on September 3. We camped at site 30 in the Boosey Creek Campground. The location was great, but a bit far from the restroom. We visited Amherstberg, Ontario one day. The Park House Museum is a fascinating place, and they have wonderful tinware for sale! We also visited Fort Malden, built to protect Canada from those dastardly Americans. A very nice place to visit. For lunch, we ate on the deck at the Ducks On the Roof restaurant. We had a pleasant time in the town.

July 2006

Mike and Michael attended summer camp with Troop 109 at Northwoods Scout Reservation from July 9 - 15.

June 2006

Mike attended the Boy Scout National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) session from June 25 through June 30.  The training was held at Camp Kiwanis near Mason, MI.  NYLT is an advanced leadership course for scouts, similar to the Wood Badge course for adult Scouters. Click here to see the photo album from the course.

May 2006

Mike and Michael participated with Troop 109 in the Chief Okemos Council Robin Hood Camporee during May 19 - 21. Part of the camporee involved judging the coat of arms each scout designed and wore during the events. With great assistance from Robert's mother, Cindy, Mike won 2nd place in the competition! Click here to see the photo album from the camporee.

April 2006

Mike and Michael went to Camp Munhacke with Troop 109 for hiking and to work on the Boy Scout Cooking merit badge. We drove to the camp on April 21 and stayed through April 23.

January 2006

Mike and Michael attended the 19th annual Merit Badge Jamboree held by the Eagle Scout Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.  Our contingent of scouts and leaders from Boy Scout Troop 109 drove to Annapolis on Friday, January 12.  We camped at YMCA Camp Letts.  On Saturday we drove to the Naval Academy where Michael earned the Electronics merit badge.  On Sunday we broke camp and drove to Baltimore, MD.  We visited the Baltimore Inner Harbour, Fort McHenry, and Edgar Allen Poe's tomb. Then we loaded back into the van and drove home for a VERY late return.  Click here to see the photo album from the trip.
